The 'Inter-Action: sections européennes and specialist schools' programme encourages linking through a range of activities. Many of the schools in the programme are experimenting with exciting new concepts for engaging students and for teachers to learn from each other.
English schools affiliated to the SSAT that are interested in working with a French school should download the application form from the above link and complete it in as much detail as possible. We look forward to receiving applications from all types of specialist school, including those that want to focus on applied learning by linking with a lycee professionnel.
If you are interested in taking part in the programme, please download the application form, which you should complete and return by email to ana.miranda@ssatrust.org.uk by 10 October 2008.
Finding partner schools
Great care is taken to match schools with suitable partners. We take account of the character of the school and the kind of partnership sought. The different age ranges of the French schools can sometimes be an issue and we recommend that schools think carefully about whether a link with a collège or a lycée would best meet their needs.
In all cases, schools should be prepared to show some flexibility when agreeing with the French schools on the year groups that will be involved. We also encourage schools to involve local partner institutions in their activities.
Joining the programme
New partners entering the programme in 2008-09 will meet at a conference in February 2009 where they will have time to discuss how they would like to work together. This annual partnership conference takes place alternately in France and England. The 2009 event will be in the UK.
Partner schools receive advice and support from the programme team throughout the year to help them to establish successful and motivating projects for their students. We also invite schools to take part in further events and activities to promote active collaboration and the sharing of good practice.
French schools: how to apply
Schools in France wishing to become part of Inter-Action should either contact the CIEP or the DAREIC for their region.
